RESULT : SEAFORD HEAD 4 WORTHING 8
On a most atrocious weather day heavy rain/gale force winds Seaford Head guys put up a very brave effort against a very strong Worthing side in the last 8. Foursomes in the morning Seaford Head were down 1.5 pts to 2.5pts.
The only wins in the morning were by Capt Tom Hartwell and club champion Steve Watts. The afternoon play went Worthing's way winning the singles 5.5pts to 2.5pts. An excellent win by Matt Smith in the afternoon 4 @ 3 . Also win for Spencer Elliott and half for Andy Gay.
Well done to all players and manager Bob Allen for their gallant efforts this season.

BEST NETT SCORE WINNER : N.SAMMERS TOTAL GROSS 149 NETT 129.
On a very different weather conditions day Steve 'Scobie' Watts won his first
Seaford Head Club Championship with 2 very good gross scores, 69 in the morning having to compete with very thick sea mist in the morning until approx midday most of 2nd shots on front nine having to be played blind, in the afternoon round the very hot sun burnt off the mist in what could be described as although tiring ideal summer golf conditions. 'Scobie' returned a score of 70 in the afternoon round just to edge out runner-up Matt Smith by 2 shots on total gross.(not without fight as Matt started 2nd round birdie/birdie/birdie/bogey/eagle !!!).
Best nett score overall went to Sam Sammers who carded 2 fine rounds of 76 in the morning and even better 73 in the afternoon round playing off 10 handicap giving a very impressive nett 129 over the 36 holes.
Best nett score in the morning went to Rod Allen 74 nett 61 !!! and in the afternoon Sam Sammers 73 nett 63.
A fabulous day all round with much thanks going to our pro Fraser Morley for looking after the scores/scoreboard during the day, Richard Andrews secretary for his tireless work during the day and of course to headgreenkeeper Jon Lincer and his staff for ensuring the course and greens were in superb condition.
And of course to the many caddies on the day (those of us lucky to have one!) who all did a superb job.
